Dear All,

 

As agreed by the Village Fair Committee, we intend to organise a sponsored walk on Saturday 10 July 2021, to raise money for the chosen charity, Brighter Futures.  Brighter Futures fund raises for the Great Western Hospital.    The 2019 sponsored walk amassed £905 (Including Gift Aid) for Brighter Futures, so it would be great if we could top £1000 in 2021.  The NHS has been outstanding during the pandemic and it would be appropriate to add our support through the medium of a healthy sponsored walk.

 

The walk will start and finish at the Village Hall.  We will ask that the bar opens in the late afternoon so that we can, together, celebrate our collective achievement.  While the availability of the bar will be Covid dependent, a beer or three would be a fitting end to the day.

 

The distances are:

 

• 2 miles (to include a cryptic clue competition)

• 5 miles

• 10 miles

• 15 miles

 

The majority of each walk will be along public rights of way although we will also use quiet roads but only when absolutely necessary. For safety reasons, the minimum number of walkers in a group will be 4, and walkers under 18 are most welcome if they are accompanied by a minimum of two adults per group.

Jane and I will produce the maps and the instructions, recce all the routes, conduct the risk analysis and deliver a safety briefing for team leaders. The safety brief will take place in the weeks running up to the event. Peter Jones will finalise the details for and then organise the 2 mile walk.
