Proposed Track Days at MOD Lyneham
A meeting was held in the Village Hall on 5th January to discuss this matter.
Martin Marmoy confirmed that there is an intention to hold up to 28 Motor Sport events at MOD Lyneham during 2018. This will be a mix of motor car and go-kart events. Four similar events have already been held during the end of 2017 – and the noise levels were quite extreme in certain parts of Tockenham.
It was established that they are acting under a Permitted Development Order from a Town and Country Act. This gives them planning permission to hold motor events without the need for consultation.
There was a lot of discussion at the meeting as to what steps could be taken to put a stop to these activities. We have also heard from a number of people from neighbouring parishes who are equally unhappy with the situation and have asked us to act on their behalf too.
Jim Griffiths from Tockenham Corner has agreed be our spokesperson and he has organised a meeting with Capt. Morgan at MOD Lyneham to express the bad feeling that these events are likely to cause in the community and to establish some facts about their plans - number of days that events will be held, expected noise levels etc.
There will be further communication after this meeting, but, in the meantime, if you have not already made your feelings known about these events (for or against) please contact
