The village hall AGM took place on 11th October and here are some of the key points from that meeting.
1. The refurbishment programme is nearing completion with the new bar facility expected to be finished early November. A replacement flat roof has been fitted to stop leaks and also new cupboards added in the main hall.
2. The hall finances are healthy with the income from the bar providing the basic running costs which enable us to offer free use of the hall for groups and community activities.
The committee is again very grateful for the generous donation from the village fair which provides us with a fund for the inevitable repairs and renewals that come with such an old building. For example the guttering will need replacing in the next year or so.
Private hire will continue to be available at £5 per hour.
The committee want to highlight the fact that the free use of the hall for groups and activities is made possible by the time and effort put in by bar volunteers and organisers of social events.
Therefore please use the bar facilities on Friday and Saturday evenings and support events held in the hall so that we can continue to offer this fine facility free of charge.
We have some great ideas for events so keep an eye out for information on events in the parish magazine and the village email list.
3. The committee for 2016/17 is as follows
Chairman - Geoff Hedges - 01793 854673
Vice Chair - Diana Kirby
Secretary - Kris Dickens - 01793 956565
Treasurer - Peter Clark
Hall bookings - Olive Fairchild - 01793 851427
Caretaker - Brian Fairchild - 01793 851427
Committee members - Mike Cook, Mandy Cook, Alison Pinniger, Wayne Clifford, Brenda Clifford, John Gough, Jane Hill.
FOR BOOKINGS AND GENERAL ENQUIRIES PLEASE CALL OLIVE FAIRCHILD ON 01793 851427
The hall will be closed for large group activities and those involving children until early November. This is due to the new bar units, glasses and other items needing to be stored in the main hall during the remedial work, causing potential safety hazards. Group organisers have been informed.
